Holidays on the Balearic island of Formentera - Caribbean beaches in Spain
Relax and enjoy the beautiful fincas and holiday villas by the sea on Formentera island.
White sand beaches framed by gleaming rocks in turquoise blue waters - Formentera is the last paradise in the Mediterranean Sea! Ibiza’s smaller sister island is considered the Caribbean among the Spanish islands.
Formentera is only 23 km long and at the narrowest point only 2 km wide - the smallest of the inhabited Balearic Islands.
Formentera is quieter and more tranquil than the other Balearic islands. Big flow of tourist does not exist - the island has no own airport. 9 km south of Ibiza, Formentera can be reached by regular ferry from Ibiza town in about 30 to 60 minutes.
The capital of Formentera is Sant Francesc, a quiet and idyllic village. The tourist centre with many bars, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and bike rental is located on the north coast in Es Pujol. The long sandy beach is also popular among windsurfers.
Around the island there are many other beaches with crystal clear water - one more beautiful than the other! Guests can also explore their personal beach favourites during their stay by bike or scooter. Crossing the island by bike takes only 3 hours.
In the far east of the island is the lighthouse on the high plateau of La Mola - with good visibility you can even look up to Mallorca. From here the steep coast falls more than 100 m almost vertically into the water. Those who come to Formentera are looking for swimming, sunbathing, water sports, walking, cycling, eating and pure relaxation. And - in whatever area of the island your holiday villa or finca is located - Formentera is beautiful all over the place!
