For opera and culture lovers, as well as friends of culinary delights, we have prepared a special highlight:
A four-day/three nights journey for a small group of maximum 10 persons from 2 to 5 October 2025 with the operas MACBETH and FALSTAFF by Giuseppe Verdi
Day 1 – Thursday, 2 October 2025 Individual arrival in Parma or organised by Domizile Reisen. If you arrive by plane to Bologna, we will meet&greet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. Check-in at the Grand Hotel de la Ville. In the early evening, a music historian will give a lecture at a standing reception with finger food. She will highlight the life's work of Giuseppe Verdi and take a closer look at the two operas ‘Falstaff’ and ‘Macbeth’. This will be followed by a dinner (4-course menu) at PARIZZI RISTORANTE. This restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
2nd day - Friday, 3 October 2025 After breakfast, our tour guide and driver will be waiting for us at around 10:00 am for a trip to the Po Valley. The destination is the country estate ANTICA CORTE PALLAVICINA RELAIS. The bus ride is about 1 hour. The historic estate is also called Castello Pallavicino or Palazzo delle Due Torri. It was a medieval lowland castle, which is now used as an agritourism with attached agriculture in Polesine Parmense, a picturesque district of Polesine Zibello. Emilia-Romagna is known as a region of connoisseurs and slow food, not least because of the world-famous Parma ham, the genuine Parmigiano and the art of producing Acetato Balsamico. The crowning glory of all these delicacies is the noble, rare and highly coveted ham CULATELLO DI ZIBELLO. During a guided tour with an expert guide, you will gain interesting insights into the estate's Culatello Museum. The tour leads inside and outside the old courtyard and includes a variety of exhibits, including old maps, documents, photographs, videos, multimedia devices and objects of rural culture, as well as the old maturing cellars. The tour concludes with a tasting of the coveted Culatello di Zibello. A typical three-course menu will then be served at the nearby restaurant AL CAVALLINO BIANCO.
In the early afternoon, we will return to the hotel to prepare for the evening performance. At 8:00 p.m., we will attend the opera ‘Falstaff’ at the Teatro Reggio in Parma. The seat category is Poltrona/stall seats with free seating. The Teatro Reggio in Parma can be reached by bus in 10 minutes or on foot in 20 minutes (about 1.5 km).
Day 3 - Saturday, 4 October 2025 After breakfast, we will meet our tour guide and driver at around 10:00 am for a trip to a cheese dairy where the real Parmesan cheese ‘Parmigiano Reggiano D.O.P.’ is made. The journey from the hotel takes about half an hour. You will be amazed at how many steps are necessary to produce this high-quality and unique food, and how strictly the quality and proof of production are monitored. After the Parmigiano-Reggiano tasting, you will be transferred to the centre of Parma. The city centre impresses with its Romanesque buildings, including the imposing cathedral, which is decorated with frescoes, and the baptistery made of pink marble. A particular highlight for art lovers is the Galleria Nazionale in the Palazzo della Pilotta. There you will be able to admire some works by the painters Correggio and Canaletto. After the city tour, you will have some free time at around 3:00 p.m. You will have the opportunity to have a light lunch, enjoy a drink, or browse a gallery or boutique for a special souvenir. At 5:30 p.m., we will meet in the hotel lobby to drive to Busseto. The bus ride will take about 45 minutes. First, we will enjoy typical Antipasti Crudo at the SALSAMENTERIA BARATTA. The excellent sausages, refined sauces and delicious cheeses will inspire you. They go perfectly with the in-house bread ‘la miseria’. The sparkling Lambrusco wine, which is typical for the region, will of course be served with the meal. The opera house is just a stone´s throw away. The opera ‘Macbeth’ will be performed at 8:00 pm at the small and unique Teatro Verdi di Buseto. The reserved seats are in the lateral boxes in the first or second tier, either box 3 or 4 to the right of the stage or box 13 or 14 to the left of the stage. Each box has two seats at the front with a view of the stage and two seats at the back with a restricted view of the stage. After the performance, we will return to the hotel, where we will arrive around midnight.
4th day - Sunday, 5th October 2025 Breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out. Transfer to the airport for those guests who have booked their flights and transfers with DOMIZILE REISEN. Price for a group of minimum 8 / maximum 10 participants: 1,665 EUR per person 230 EUR single room supplement
